Stone Sour

from The Craft of the Cocktail

  • 1.5 ounces Old Potrero Rye Whiskey
  • .75 ounce Lemon Juice
  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup
  • 1 ounce Orange Juice
  • slice of Orange (Garnish)
  • Cherry (Garnish)

Shake all the ingredients with ice and serve in a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with the orange slice and cherry.

I don't know who coined the name first, but it came from California. As a matter of fact, Stone Sours were also called California Sours. Stone Sour just indicates the addition of a little fresh orange juice.
