Salt-And-Pepper Highball

from The Craft of the Cocktail

  • 1.5 ounces Gin
  • .75 ounce Lemon Juice
  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup
  • 3 ounces Grapefruit Juice
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters

Rim a highball glass by rubbing the lemon or lime piece around the outside rim of the glass to dampen it and then dusting the rim with coarse salt. (Do not use table salt.) Fill a rimmed highball glass with ice. Shake all the ingredients with ice and strain into the prepared glass.

I liked the name and the whole idea of the Salty Dog, but I found the recipe a bit boring. So I created my own salty drink with more flavor.
